Things To Do on Skye
Although a relatively small island Skye has much to offer the visitor, especially if they are prepared to get out of their car.

There are many spectacular hill and coast walks where otters, golden eagles, sea eagles, seals and even porpoises are frequently seen. During one trip to the west of the island we watched a pod of Minke whales feeding and also saw a Basking Shark close to the shore. Last year we had a large basking shark in the loch below the house and we have seen a Sea Eagle fly over the croft twice now.

There are many craft outlets, museums and historic sites to visit, as well as the only whisky distillery on Skye and Dunvegan Castle and Gardens. During August we have the Highland Games in Portree which is a must for visitors.
We also have a wonderful cultural centre in Portree called the Aros which includes a restuarant, shop, Sea Eagle exhibition, cinema/theatre and conference centre. Each week throughout the year there would normally be a movie plus either a theatre production or concert. The Gaelic language is commonly spoken on Skye and the Aros frequently features Gaelic events.
The Storr
For those wishing to travel further afield we have a ferry link with the Outer Hebrides operating from Uig in the north of Skye. During the summer months a day return ticket is offered which gives a combination of ferry and coach travel between Skye, North Uist and Harris providing a wonderful day trip.
